FREQUENTLY ASKED  QUESTIONS

WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF THE DUNEDIN FIT CAMP EXPERIENCE
1) Decreased Stress / Increased energy – with your hectic schedule, can you say that you honestly get a chance to laugh, dance, hit something, and talk about things not related to kids and work everyday uninterrupted for an hour? Probably not! By making fitness fun again, you will have the opportunity to have these experiences 2 days a week without having to worry about the kids (because they’re asleep) or the job ( because the workday hasn’t started yet). Because you leave Fit Camp in such a good mood, after day one, you will notice that things that used to bother you, getting kids ready for school, or an stressful work environment will have little to no effect on your overall mood. What does that mean for you? Less stress, which translates into less emotional eating.

2) Improvement in performance - there are some people that join Fit Camp that have never worked out, there are others that used to be really active but their activity level dropped after they had kids, or started studying after college or began a really demanding job. Now,  they are so removed from their active lifestyle, that it is very hard to exercise again. So with the free time they have, they are either watching TV or staying sedentary. It’s time to wake those muscles up again. They are there, they might not have been put to good use in a while but they still work. After one workout, you will remember that you have abs muscles, leg muscles, and arm muscles which can be worked, toned, and defined.

3) A leaner body – after you’ve made a habit of coming to class, you are going to notice some changes in the body. After 3-4 weeks, your clothes will start fitting better. After 5-6 weeks you notice the scale start to really move, provided you maintain a responsible diet. After a few more weeks you will begin to notice an entirely new you! ( or maybe, you’ll get to see the old you again!)

EXACTLY HOW ARE THE CLASSES RUN?
We start with a community warm up which will consist of walking, standard exercises and light stretching.  From there, there will be 4 exercises, usually a push, a pull, an elevation, and a multi-planer exercise. You’ll be separated into four groups and you’ll rotate from station to station for the first half of the class. From there they’ll be a quick break and there will be four cardio-based exercises which you will do with your group.  After another break we’ll all come together to do abs and stretch and before you know it, an hour has passed by.

Classes are Monday & Thursday  6:30 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. and they last no more than an hour.
(you will register for one time slot only)

WHAT IF I'M NOT IN GREAT SHAPE?
Fit Camp is designed for anybody of all fitness levels especially for the beginner or someone who hasn't exercised in awhile.  Nobody will be left behind or asked to complete more than they are capable of doing safely.  Having said that, everyone will be challenged!  Even if you are in shape, there are progressions with every exercise to challenge you.  You will inspire and be inspired by others.

CAN I REALLY GET FIT WITH ONLY 2 WORKOUTS A WEEK?
ABSOLUTELY!  Our program is a TOTAL BODY METABOLIC RESISTANCE workout which incorporate a larger number of muscle groups, which will ultimately lead to a greater amount of energy expenditure (i.e. calories burned) during and after the training session.  We do recommend some type of activity or lower intensity cardio (ex. walking, biking, jogging, tennis, etc..)  at least 2 other days during the week for maximum health benefits.
It's important to note that exercise is only one part of the equation when it comes to getting lean. Proper nutrition and quality sleep are the two most important factors that need to be addressed if you really want to change your body composition

WHERE IS THE CAMP LOCATED?
Dunedin Fit Camp meets at Weaver Park in Dunedin.  It is located at 1249 Bayshore Blvd.  about 1/2 mile north of downtown Main st.  There is parking at the park along Bayshore Blvd or you can park in the public lots downtown and take the Pinellas Trail north to the Weaver Park.

HOW DO I REGISTER?
Go to the Register Here Page and fill out the form. After filling out the registration form, please follow the payment instructions, we accept cash, check or credit card or you can also pay secure online via credit card or paypal. Once we've received your registration information, we'll contact you to schedule your pre-camp evaluation.

WHAT IS A PRE-CAMP BODY ANALYSIS?
The Pre-Camp Evaluation includes the following:

  1. Review your medical and exercise history.
  2. Take measurements to see where you are prior to beginning camp. We are not concerned with what the pre camp measurements show. It's strictly for a post-camp comparison. These numbers and all other information will be held in the strictest confidence.
  3. Weight and measurements, as well as your body fat percentage is taken. Again, we just want to be able to measure your improvement. Don't be surprised if you see a 3-8% reduction in your body fat over the four weeks! In fact you should expect it!
  4. Re-assessment will take place the last week of camp to measure your improvements! Please call me to schedule your appointment.

WILL I BE SORE SOMETIMES?

Most people feel some soreness for the first 2-3 days. Depending on your exercise history it can range from slight to more than moderate. That’s why we have trainers there to make sure you never overdo it. Your goals should be long term health and fitness so we teach you to run the marathon, not sprint the race! After that point, it is little to moderate. It’s part of the process that lets you know you are improving! After the first two weeks your body will adjust and you’ll find that you’re no longer sore.

WHO ATTENDS THE CAMP?
They are people just like you. Everyone from experienced athletes, moms who have never worked out, grandparents, firefighters, and everyone in between. Whether you have a few pounds to lose or 50 plus pounds you’ll find Fit Camp the perfect program to help you achieve your fitness and weight loss goal!  The 6:30am and 9:00am class generally have single professionals, business owners, stay at home moms, and parents of grown children who are looking for a great morning workout.  They want results, to feel great,  want to reclaim their energy, feel attractive and be the very best they can be. They are people looking to jump start their fitness and get fast results. They are determined and committed and many admit they were scared to sign up and get started, but were thrilled they did.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO FIT CAMP
You will need to bring 5, 8, 10 or 12 lb. hand weights and an exercise mat. You will also want to bring water to keep yourself hydrated during camp. Optional items are a towel to dry off with and exercise gloves or mittens during cooler weather. Dress in layers. If it is chilly, you will get warm very fast!

WHAT KINDS OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Changing your body happens in phases. In our one on one I will ask you if your goal is a number( on the scale ) a look, or a size. Regardless of your answer, you will have to eat responsibly to eventually see that scale move in a favorable direction. In terms of the phases to fitness, this it what you should look for:
Phase I: Increase in energy, decrease in stress
Phase II: Increase in strength
Phase III: Clothes start to fit differently ( better! )
Phase IV: Scale starts to move!
If you eat healthily and come to bootcamp, you will have your results, guaranteed!

How is this different from a local health club?
Fit Camp is a fitness program designed to get you in the best shape of your life in a fun and motivating atmosphere. Unlike a traditional health club, you won’t encounter intimidation, overcrowding, and broken down equipment. People join because:

1) They like the sense of community.

2) They like having a trainer that remembers their name.

3) They don’t just want to be another number
